"EDUCATION IS OUR LEGACY"....
The inspiration for the Linda's Kids Project began one day as I was walking through our village in Ngoswani, Kenya. I observed a little girl of about 5 tending a much smaller baby and attemping to start a fire. I felt compelled to find out her story.
I learned Tusempai (pictured second from right) is an orphan, and because she has no parents, her future was set: household maid, circumcision, and marriage at the onset of puberty. I thought, "This cannot be all there is for this sweet little girl."
Tusempai became the impetus for this project. We began with only a few children so that we could financially guarantee their education through high school graduation. The funds we raise provide for their school tuition, uniforms, school supplies and government testing fees.
Currently, we are supporting four amazing kids: Moseka, Resian, Tusempai, and Napanyo and THESE ARE LINDA'S KIDS.
LINDA'S KIDS ACADEMY: CHILDREN OF PROMISE
We are excited to announce that on January 28, 2015 we officially opened the new Linda's Kids Academy with 46 kids. Yes, 46 nursery-aged children.
This November, the Children of Promise will be promoted to the next level call "middle class". It means that our 46 babies completed their first year of school. At the start of the year, these children could only speak their local dialect of Masai. I am so proud to say that every one of these precious children, ages 3-6, have learned how to read and write in English and can say six memory verses in English. We are also excited to report that they have done exceptional on the government testing for their ages.
Our teachers and volunteers have done an amazing job of empowering our babies. We are forever thankful that we get to invest in their lives.
